Numbers –21

John said “I have attempted 95% of the questions correctly in the examination”. What might be the minimum possible number of questions given in the examination?
(1)19   (2)10   (3)20   (4)100 (5)95

Solution:
95% = 95/100 = 19/20
19/20 is the simplest fraction which can be derived from 95%.
Hence, at the minimum John has answered 19 Q’s correctly out of the given 20 Q’s.

    5% of 20 = 1

    So, Min no of questions = 19+1 = 20

  2. yes TSK, your are right, other way of approach for this is:
    95% = 95/100 = 19/20
    => this is the simplified fraction
    => he got 19 correct out of given 20 Q's
    => 20 is the answer
